We will begin with a discussion about some big feelings we have: Session 1 - Yoga for Angry Feelings Students will begin by remembering a time they felt angry and remembering where in the body they felt the angry feeling. We will then go through a simple yoga sequence that will help them move through the angry feelings. At the end of the session we will talk about things we do to feel better next time we feel angry feelings. Session 2 - Yoga for Sad Feelings At the beginning of class we will recall how we were able to handle angry feelings since last week's session. Students will then be asked to think of a time they felt sad and remembering where in the body they felt the sad feeling. We will then go through a simple yoga sequence that will help them move through the sad feelings. At the end of the session we will talk about things we do to feel better next time we feel sad feelings. Session 3 - Yoga for Nervous or Scared Feelings At the beginning of class we will recall how we were able to handle sad feelings since last week's session. Students will then be asked to think of a time they felt nervous or scared and remembering where in the body they felt the nervous or scared feeling. We will then go through a simple yoga sequence that will help them move through the nervous or scared feelings. At the end of the session we will talk about things we do to feel better next time we feel nervous or scared feelings. Session 4 - Yoga for Excited Feelings At the beginning of class we will recall how we were able to handle nervous or scared feelings since last week's session. Students will then be asked to think of a time they felt overly excited and remembering where in the body they felt the excited feelings. We will then go through a simple yoga sequence that will help them move through the excited feelings. At the end of the session we will talk about things we do to calm ourselves next time we feel overly excited feelings.
Learning Goals
Students will learn to recognize and name some of their big feelings.
Students will learn that breathing and mindful movement can help them manage their big feelings.
Other Details
Parental Guidance
As we will be engaging in some gentle physical activity, please be sure your child has enough space to move and stretch safely and comfortably. I recommend using a yoga mat and removing socks beforehand.

A yoga mat is recommended for this class.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I am a certified yoga instructor and holistic health coach with specialized training in teaching mindfulness to school-age children. I also hold a Masters Degree in Elementary Education. I am passionate about social and emotional learning and helping young people to identify, and manage their emotions in healthy ways.
