5 in-class hoursClass Experience
Through demonstration and verbal instruction, yoga and creative painting projects will engage young yogis in mindfulness practices. Day 1: Yoga class and calm breathing exercise Day 2: Rock Painting: Children will choose colors, plan, and be guided on how to create a colorful mandala design using dot painting on river stones. The activity itself is an exercise in mindfulness. The stone can then be used as a focal point during mindful breathing or meditation. Day 3: Yoga class and longer guided relaxation. This session will include a ten minute guided rest time after yoga class to encourage awareness of the body, mind, and emotions at rest. Day 4: Intention Flag Banner: We will discuss the meaning of intention, and then I will guide the students to create their own intention banner for their bedroom. Day 5: Yoga and Intro to Meditation: Yoga class followed by guided sitting meditation on the breath. Where does the breath begin? Where does it flow? How does it feel? What does it mean to bring my attention from the outside in? Children will have the opportunity to raise their hand to ask questions and make comments. We will have discussion time at the end of class. Children have the option to speak aloud or just listen.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! I absolutely love being a teacher! I have been teaching children yoga since 2013, and adults since 2014. Prior to becoming a Yoga Alliance certified yoga teacher, I received my M.Ed. and worked as a Montessori teacher for 3-6 year olds for over a decade. Amazingly, there are many things in common between the Montessori philosophy and the yoga philosophy! At the root of them both is peacefulness, finding the quiet within yourself and then bringing that to your larger community, whether that is your family, classroom, neighborhood, or beyond. I find joy in sharing both the internal (breathing, stillness, kindness, self-awareness) and external (body movement, self-control, strength) aspects of yoga with my students of ALL ages. I work with young children through seniors who may need to practice yoga in a chair. My own yoga practice has been ongoing since I was a college student. Everyday I come to my mat to move, practice prānāyāma (breathing practices) and meditation. I am so thankful for my practice and the insights I have gained in this work.
In addition to teaching Yoga and Mindfulness for children ages 3-18, I love teaching Vinyasa Flow, Gentle Yoga, Yin Yoga, and Yoga Basics.
I have two daughter and two dogs. When I’m not on my yoga mat you will find me outdoors working in my garden, hiking, camping, exploring, reading, or studying yoga philosophy. A fun fact about me is that I have freckles with the irises of my eyes! I also speak French, a traveller’s level of Mandarin, and I am studying the ancient language of yoga: Sanskrit!
Teaching credentials: M.Ed., ERYT-200; RYT-500
The above credentials mean that I have taught over 1200 hours of yoga thus far.
