In this one-time class I guide students in a playful, engaging and peaceful explorations of Yoga and Mindfulness including embodied storytelling, songs, poems and creative movement. These are all presented in safe, child-friendly forms that encourage kinesthetic awareness, social-emotional learning, cognitive development and imaginary play. I provide verbal instruction and visual demonstrations of Yoga poses that includes alignment cues (i.e. where to put your arms, legs, etc.) and creative...
Students will learn basic seated, standing and reclined Yoga poses.
I am a certified Children's Yoga Instructor (2015) and I completed my 200hr Registered Yoga Teacher Training in June 2020. I have 22 years experience as a Yoga practitioner and 6 years experience as a Yoga Instructor. I'm also an Early Childhood Educator working on my Master's in Innovative Early Childhood Education.
Comfortable clothes and a safe spot to move around (make sure you have enough space to lie down with arms and legs out, choose a spot that doesn't have toys or things that could trip you.). A Yoga mat is great, but not required. I don't recommend using towels or blankets in place of a Yoga mat, as those can cause students to trip or slip.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
25 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Please provide an open workout space free of any items that could potentially trip or cause the learner to slip. Slip-proof socks or bare feet, a water bottle, and comfortable clothing are suggested for this class (keep in mind we'll be doing some inverted poses, so tucking in or knotting loose-fitting shirts is recommended). While I will be providing instruction in poses that are suitable for beginner students, adult supervision is still recommended.
