Description
Class Experience
This class will start with the very basics of starting to write a college level paper. The student will learn all the steps necessary to begin picking a topic, researching that topic, brainstorming a thesis, constructing a working outline, using the outline to guide the rough draft, learning how to properly cite sources and insert into the body of the paper, properly constructing an MLA formatted title page, body, and works cited or reference page, and finally turning in a finished paper. ...
Students will improve their understanding of the basic components of writing a college level paper, improve their understanding of the proper way to construct a paper, the correct format to use, and also improve their knowledge of the correct use of citations.
As a History with teaching certification educator as well as having my masters in international development as well as a PhD in Human Services, all with a GPA of 3.5 or higher (4.0 in graduate programs) I have had to present many papers in the 12 years of school that I attended. Additionally, I have had many papers submitted to SACS (Souther Accredidation of Colleges and Schools) for their impeccable standards to be used as reference on fluency of paper writing skills. I am working at this time to be published.
Learners will work together in some classes as a group. There will be homework given especially given the research nature of this class. Students should expect to be able to work independently doing their research and constructing the writing elements after instruction is given.
Pardue Owl free account would be a wonderful additional resource for students as well as a free citansionsy account.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Student will receive a letter grade at the end of this course.
2 hours per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
Student should have access to google scholar searches as well as a free jstor account.
