Class Experience

1)What will be taught? Students will learn about Japanese currency, yen. I will show the actual Japanese money and explain to them what each bill and coin represents and quick tricks to figure out how much something is worth. Then, students will learn how to go shopping in a pretend grocery store and tell me how much yen they will need to buy with what they decided to purchase. I will then pull different items out from a bag with different prices on them. These items will come from a real Japanese grocery story. I live in Japan, so I will have some neat treats. Students will have to figure out what the correct value and yen should be paid for the item that is pulled out.
2) How will I teach this? I will have actual yen from Japan and explain to students what each bill and coin is worth and ways to remember the value. Then, students will get to interact with myself and the class by buying things from a pretend grocery store in Japan while using the correct yen amount.
3)How much required knowledge is needed? There is no required knowledge needed to take this course. It is a beginners course in Japanese currency.

Hello Everyone!! I have a joke for you.....
What school do you greet people in?......Hi School!:):)

I LOVE teaching! I graduated from West Texas A&M University with my bachelor's degree in elementary education. I have also acquired a masters degree in reading instruction, and am passionate about teaching kids to read. When I graduated college I taught first grade for two years in North Carolina. I have also had the opportunity to teach English online with VIPKID for a couple years. This is an ESL company based in China. This has given me experience with making learning FUN in the online environment. I have lots of tricks up my sleeve. I really enjoy teaching creative writing, so if you are interested in getting your child engaged while writing, I would love to be your teacher:) I also have two precious Corgi's named Peach and Noodle that like to make appearances in my classes as well. Students always look forward to this. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me. Thanks so much and I hope to meet you all soon!
