In this year long high school science class, we will meet twice a week to dive into the biology of the horse. This is a great hands-on, lab science option.
Class experience
US Grade 11 - 12
Advanced Level
In this class, we will meet 70 times over the course of one school year. We will meet twice weekly for 55 minutes each time. This class is largely hands on, with many opportunities for projects and labs. Youth hoping to be equine science majors will develop a broad understanding of the horse as it relates to business, recreational, and production aspects of the industry. I was a high school equine science teacher but also taught on the college level. Currently a veterinary medicine program instructor and curriculum developer as well as a equine dissectionist, horse farm owner and manager.
Homework Offered
homework will typically be assigned once a week, often times a question to answer or a simple project to complete. Assignments are given that are practical and for developing the skillset of the student.1 - 2 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
assessments will be offered at the end of each unit we study. Assessments may be in the form of kahoot tests or projects.Grades Offered
Grades are offered for the learners who request them at the beginning of the year. If a learner requests grades after the year has begun, they will be declined.
class notes will be provided and visuals will be provided weekly.
learners are encouraged, but not required to take at least one of my other equine classes.
I will post supplies for projects, labs and assignments each month. All items needed will be listed.
