Class Experience

In this Year 5 English class, students will develop and enhance their reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills through a diverse range of literary genres, including fiction, non-fiction and poetry.

Each lesson provides opportunities for students to practice all their English skills with each class including a grammar focus which links to a reading exercise and a writing exercise.. The curriculum follows a cyclical approach, allowing students to continuously consolidate their knowledge while also stretching and challenging themselves as they progress.

My teaching approach is supportive and student-centred, focused on fostering a love for language and literature. Emphasising clear communication and critical thinking, I encourage students to confidently express their ideas and appreciate the richness of the English language. Regular constructive feedback will help students refine their skills, while collaborative activities will promote teamwork and peer learning.

This class following British English grammar and punctuation conventions.

My name is Issaiyanee, and Issai Teach is my tiny company through which I teach languages (French, English and Mauritian Creole).

I am passionate about working with languages and love sharing my enthusiasm for multilingualism with my students.

I studied linguistics as an undergraduate and applied linguistics as a post-graduate before completing my PGCE and qualifying as a foreign language teacher in the UK.

I have been teaching for about 6 years and tutoring for much longer, working with students to improve their French and English. I taught in schools for two years before setting up my company to teach online. I currently work with platforms teaching classes for the UK curriculum, both group classes (up to 20) and 1:1. classes.

I enjoy making my students laugh in the lesson, making them feel comfortable and providing an enjoyable classroom environment. I use sentence builders to provide my students with as much support as they need throughout their learning journey and I tend to favour task based learning and lots of input. I give my students lots of models before asking them to produce any language.

I love to cook and play around with clay to create tiny plant pots. I have two small chihuahuas named Sanka and Bhole.
