Year 3 Spanish Reading Book Club (Novel- La Llorona/The Weeping Woman)
In this Spanish book club, students will learn Spanish by reading comprehensible novels. Through reading and class discussion, students will increase their reading and speaking proficiency while gaining confidence in the target language.

Class Experience
This class is taught in Spanish.
There will be a combination of videos, audio excerpts, pictures/infographics, discussion boards, or music, and, of course, stories all focused on a specific topic. We will learn new vocabulary in the context of the story each lesson. Throughout this course, Students will be practicing the 4 main parts of learning Spanish through reading, listening, speaking & writing through various activities. Activities may include: written or spoken responses in the form of practicing reading/listening comprehension, spoken Q & A/prompts, or writing prompts. Response activities are centered around a main story tied to each week's topic.
I have been a certified Spanish teacher for the past 24 years. I have a masters in education. I lived and studied in Spain for several years so I have a true Spanish accent (castellano). I have attended many comprehensible input training and am a certified CI teacher.
Optional homework will consist of practicing vocabulary and sentence structure on quizlet.com.
La Llorona de Mazatlán novel will be utilized during this class. Book can be purchased at Wayside publishing if you would like your own copy. I will provide reading materials during class.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
1 hour per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
This novel is based upon a Mexican ghost/spirit legend. The spirit/ghost does make appearances throughout the book but does not harm any of the characters.
The novel for this class can be purchased at fluencymatters.com. The novel is called La Llorona de Mazatlan. Youtube will be used to show videos. Pear Deck and Google slides will be used to deliver class information. Quizlet, Flipgrid, Gimkit and may be used as optional ways to practice the language and reinforce class topics.
