50 mins in-class hours per weekClass Experience
This class is designed to give year 2 students (aged 6-7) the opportunity for social interaction with other kids their own age - and to make new friends! We will begin each class by talking about the day, and the date and anything interesting about the week. Students will have the opportunity to answer easy ice-breaker questions like: 'What did you have for breakfast?" "What are you looking forward to today?" "Did you do anything fun yesterday?" and to share any news they have. We will then play a series of games, e.g. Pictionary, Charades, 'Dog, Monkey, Pirate'. We will also have a a small section where we learn a few things about a different country each week. This will be learning (a) how to say 'hello' in the native language (b) learning a few facts about the country (c) talking about a famous food dish from the country. If students have been there they can tell us what they know! Week beginning 5th October - we will look at France. Week beginning 12th Oct - we will look at Australia. Week beginning 19th October - we will look at India. Week beginning 26th October - we will look at Zambia. We will end by talking about what we are going to do for the rest of the day, and students can tell any good jokes they know. They will be able to post on the online classroom in-between classes and they could, for example, post a photo of a caterpillar they saw on a nature walk, or a great cake they have baked. I am a qualified and experienced teacher, and a mum of three (including a boy in year 2!) so I'm really looking forward to getting a little social group together in a fun and engaging way.
