This Spanish course will introduce the Spanish language to learners through engaging stories and a class novel! Activities and games will be used as tools for language learning in this eight-week asynchronous course.

Class Experience
This class is taught in Spanish.
There will be a combination of videos, audio excerpts, pictures/infographics, discussion boards, or music, and, of course, stories all focused on a specific topic. We will learn new vocabulary in the context of the story each lesson. Throughout this 8 week course, Students will be practicing the 4 main parts of learning Spanish through reading, listening, speaking & writing through various activities. Activities may include: written or spoken responses in the form of practicing reading/listening comprehension, spoken Q & A/prompts, or writing prompts. Response activities are centered around a main story tied to each week's topic.
I have been a certified Spanish teacher for the past 24 years. I have a masters in education. I lived and studied in Spain for several years so I have a true Spanish accent (castellano). I have attended CI (comprehensible Input) conferences and implement the CI teaching strategy into my lessons.
Homework will consist of watching the weekly video lesson and completing practice activities. Practice activities will be completed individually and may take up to 20 minutes each week. Learners will be encouraged to make videos, draw pictures and record themselves speaking Spanish. They are also able to interact with other learners in the Outschool classroom. The learners will receive digital flashcards that can be printed out each week.
Tumba novel will be utilized during this class. Book can be purchased at Wayside publishing if you would like your own copy. I will provide reading materials during class.

They topic of death is discussed during this class. Google Slides/Screensharing- Class will be delivered using Google presentations and screensharing. Pear Deck- Is an educational site that I will use to create more engaging lessons. If this site is utilized, I will share the log in code via Outschool platform. Students log in with a class code. Gimkit & Kahoot- I will assign optional activities on these educational platforms for reinforcement games/activities. There will be a student log in code for this class accessible via Outschool messaging Youtube- I use this platform to share educational videos via screensharing.
