Class Experience
We will have yoga fun with a variety of themes, stories, and songs! Each week we will explore a topic, dictated weekly by seasons and months of the year, weather, general topics like feelings, favorite books, healthy lifestyle choices, benefits of yoga practice , breathing and how it helps us, mermaids, unicorns, dogs, friendships skills, self-control strategies, problem-solving techniques, karate or other topics students wish to know more about! We explore topics through our yoga practice...
Students will practice self-calm and self-regulation skills as we yoga together! The benefits of yoga for children include: • Builds confidence and self awareness • Improves focus, concentration, and ability to follow directions • Develops physical strength and balance • Decreases anxiety and stress • Promotes positive relationships and behavior • Teaches self-regulation skills • Increases academic engagement • It’s inclusive and non-competitive!
I have been a public school educator for 30 years! I have been a teacher, librarian, and currently serve as a school counselor and yoga teacher. I have practiced yoga for 12 years and teaching yoga for the past 7 years! I found yoga to be good for my body, brains, and heart~when I complete a practice I feel calm and relaxed. I trained to be a yoga teacher for adults and children to share the tools that help me.
A towel or mat is helpful when we work on the floor. Students should wear clothes to move around comfortably!
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
A yoga practice involves movement, and, as in all movement opportunities, students could hurt themselves. To avoid injury, please ensure your child has plenty of space to work and is properly supervised during the learning opportunity. It is also recommended to work with bare feet or socks with rubber grips to prevent feet from sliding unsafely while yoga-ing!
