Assessment
Students will be assessed by me in class. This will be done at the end of each topic conclusion. The number of weeks/sessions after this will take place will depend on each individual learner and their pace.Class Experience
Your child will be explore the paragraph writing process in a fun and engaging way. I will first talk with you to see where along the writing process your child is at. Then, I can better teach them at the level they are at. Since this is a one-on-one, I will for sure be able to focus on the specific needs of your child. Since I am an actual school teacher, I am very experienced with knowing what kids at this age need in order to become writing and become even better, more creative writers. My teaching style is very fun and engaging, but not "overwhelming." I like to use items like: puppets, hands on activities as well as incorporate a bit of movement if and when possible. This, of course, depends on the likes and age of each child. Some lessons/activities will include: the use of Google Slides, sentence building and writing, adding adjectives to sentences to make them better and more creative and the use of hands on items to help it all come more. One way that I will help it all come to life for your child in class will be to use "realia," which is real life items to aid in helping your child be creative with their writing skills. They will help in creation of a simple sentence for the object, then will take part in the reading of it after. They in turn will practice on their own with using an item from home to create their sentence. Another ongoing activity will be the use of "voice." We will change up our voices (example: read like a mouse, a giant or a certain character or celebrity to help make reading more fun. Students will be able to volunteer ideas of "voice" options.
Learning Goals
Students will learn the paragraph writing process in a way, and in a way that they can understand. They will see that writing can be fun. They will also see how exciting it is when they are able to write more sentences on their own, and to transform their sentences into paragraph form(s).
