In this weekly club, students will use a mind map to collaboratively create a Minecraft story based on a different creative writing prompt each week. Students can then write their own story or create a Minecraft build based on the story!

*We will NOT be playing Minecraft in class.* In this weekly club, students will use a mind map to collaboratively create a Minecraft story based on a different creative writing prompt each week. Students can then write their own story OR go "in game" outside of class to create a Minecraft scene based on our story. Students enrolled in this ongoing club can bring their stories to the next class to share or share screenshots of their story-related build to show and describe to the class. Students will learn to work together to create a story and discuss the story elements : title, characters, setting, problem and solution. We will often alternate to learning the 5 W's of writing (Who? What? When? Where? Why?) depending on the writing prompt. Students will also learn about brainstorming and using a mind-map to organize our thoughts as we plan our story. Bring your imagination, your creativity and your love of Minecraft to class!
Learning Goals
In this class we will work together to create our own story and discuss the story elements : title, characters, setting, problem and solution. We will often alternate to learning the 5 W's of writing (Who? What? When? Where? Why?) depending on the writing prompt. We will learn about brainstorming and using a mind-map to organize our thoughts as we plan our story. The main goal of this club is for students to gain a love for creative writing and for them to realize that they are creative!

Bring your imagination and creativity to class! I have included a blank mind-map for you to use as we brainstorm during class and create our Minecraft story together. You may also use this for your own personal use to create your own Minecraft stories!

Hello! My name is Miss Lisa! I love reading, learning and traveling ... and not necessarily in that order! :) I LOVE reading and diving into books and getting LOST in stories and learning. It can be quite an adventure like stepping through the wardrobe into Narnia! In my classroom, you will join me on adventures of different kinds.
In our classes, we'll go to far away places, whether in our imaginations or virtually as we travel! We'll read amazing books and learn about new things! We'll also read and discuss some books and even go "in game" in Minecraft to build what we are reading about.
I believe learning should be fun! My philosophy is "shh, don't let them know they're learning!" I LOVE to see my students having fun during our classes as they learn new things about our world and fall in love with reading. I also love to see students blossom as they become more comfortable and interact in the ways they feel comfortable. It is my desire to see your student come to my classroom and feel comfortable to LEARN, GROW and participate in whatever way they can.
I have been working with children ages 3-18 for over 20 years. I have organized and managed after-school mentoring programs and taught in church. I have been homeschooling for over 8 years and have been teaching online for over 6 years. I have a bachelor's degree in social work with an emphasis in psychology. I am also a published author.
