Superheroes get all of the glory, but it is the villain that drives the story. Heroes react to a situation, but it is the villain that sets the story in motion. Most comic book superheroes have a gallery of villains; however, there is almost always one that stands out and offers the greatest level of difficulty for the hero, making that villain the arch enemy. This course is designed to promote reading comprehension, literary analysis, critical thinking, character analysis, character development, creativity, and oral argumentation.
I have been an English teacher and speech and debate coach for almost 20 years. I have always loved comic books, i have always had a greater affection and interest in villains, be it in comic books, literature, or film.
Students should familiarize themselves with the upcoming characters and begin working on the superhero character chart.
3 files available upon enrollmentStudents should have all four worksheets available, either printed on paper or, if they prefer, a digital copy. Students should have multiple writing utensils available and are encouraged to have multiple colors available.
