Description

Class Experience

Students will learn the basics of research paper writing in this 6-week course. From proposal to presentation students will received guided instruction on creating a research project. This skill is generally expected in 9th - 12th grades, and all levels of post-secondary education.

Topics covered will include:
Topic selection - choosing a research topic and refining the research question
Academic honesty - plagiarism, & fair use
Performing research - finding and verifying sources, creating...

Students will develop research skills, become familiar with citation styles, and successfully employ rhetorical devices to create polished research projects and presentations.

Some research and writing will be expected outside of class time.

Student learning will be assessed through the submission of various elements and stages of the research project.

1 hour 30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 2 - 4 hours per week outside of class.
