In this class, students will be thinking deeply about writing and the topics that they want to write about. Many times, students have a difficult time thinking about what they want to write about. Students will improve their understanding of writing paragraphs by using a topic sentence, three detailed sentences, and a conclusion sentence. They will be practicing their skills speaking in front of a class when sharing their stories and they will be focusing on the key details of their paragraph.
I have my Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education. I taught these topics to elementary school students and I am familiar with the learning standards children should know at this age level.
There will no homework assigned for this course.
Pencil, Paper, Crayons/Markers/Colored Pencils- whichever the student prefers.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Learner progress is assessed by turning in their paragraphs and giving feedback on their writing. I will assess progress based off of how they use the feedback to progress in their next writing assignment.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
