Students will create a heart map of all of the things that are special to them and in each class, they will pick one thing from their map to write a detailed paragraph about and share their writing with the class!
Class Experience
In this class, students will be thinking deeply about writing and the topics that they want to write about. Many times, students have a difficult time thinking about what they want to write about. A tool we will use to help students think of different topics to write about is a heart map. Students will use a piece of paper and markers/crayons/colored pencils to draw a big heart and draw a picture of all of the things that are special to them in the heart map. Students will improve their understanding of writing paragraphs by using a topic sentence, three detailed sentences, and a conclusion sentence. They will be practicing their skills speaking in front of a class when sharing their stories and they will be focusing on the key details of their paragraph.
I have my Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education. I taught these topics to elementary school students and I am familiar with the learning standards children should know at this age level.
