In this course, students will get a crash course on some key writing concepts including the writing process, editing and revising, sentence structure, word choice, character traits, theme v. plot, and more!

Students will learn about key writing concepts crucial for being successful writers in and out of school! This course is a great introduction, refresher, or for students who just need some extra instruction. The topics we will cover are: the writing process, revising and editing, sentence creation, stretching a sentence, transition words, description words, word choice, character traits, and theme vs. plot. The structure of the course will run something like this - Class #1 - the writing...
Students will gain an understanding on the above stated concepts. Students will practice and increase their skills of the before mentioned concepts. Students will become proficient writers and readers.
Elementary teaching assistant and substitute teacher for 3 years and counting.
3 hours 45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Students will be asked to access Nearpod, Kahoot!, and YouTube in order to fully experience this course. They may require assistance in accessing these sources for the first time. An account may be required. A codes will be needed for both Nearpod and Kahoot, along with the creation of a "nickname". Nothing will be require to access videos on Canva. Most YouTube videos will be under the "kids" section of YouTube however some are not and will require an adult account to avoid the videos being blocked. Youtube and Canva videos, and Nearpod will be used via screen share. The google slides presentation will be a simple link to follow and download.
