In this 6-day course, learners will discuss the style of writing featured in the Wings of Fire books and complete creative writing around this premise.
Class Experience
This class will cover information found in the Wings of Fire series by Tui T. Sutherland, used as inspiration when structuring a written story. During the first day, learners will discuss the writing style within Sutherland's Wings of Fire series and what main components make up the story. The basic components for writing will briefly be covered, with attention paid on how to start creating characters. Learners will also participate in a short brainstorming activity meant to stimulate...
- Learners will be able to identify the different steps which go into creating a story, as well as what they can do to create their own.
Something to write on or in (e.g. Word Document, notebook, etc.) Something to write with (e.g. pencil, computer mouse, etc.) (Optional) A copy of any Wings of Fire book, digital or physical, may assist learners when writing.
The books do contain some violence and death. Writing, if students so choose, may also include this.
