This engaging horse themed creative writing multi-day class will meet twice a week for three weeks. Students will create their own storybooks that celebrate HORSES AND the fall season along with incorporating a kindness theme.

Class experience

US Grade 4 - 7
This class is taught in English.

To create a picture book celebrating FALL and HORSES along with the using themes of kindness
To utilize all the main story elements in the story
To create a cover and summary of the book
To use correct grammar and punctuation

Themes will be kindness, sharing and thoughtfulness.
I have published eighteen children's books that cater to themes of kindness, thoughtfulness and teamwork since 2015. I have used my animal themed picture books and storybooks in the public-school sector in WI and IA for readings along with all year-round library programs for ages Prek to 6th grade in Iowa and Colorado. In addition, I also serve as a professional editor and ghostwriter. Lastly, I served as a guest speaker at Prairie du Chien ISD's Young Authors night in 2016. In my local NE Iowa community and local library, I have taught writing workshops on the independent publishing endeavor and creating a children's book.
Homework Offered
*Special note: The summary page will attach to the back of the pages of text like a back cover of a book. The teacher will provide an assessment of each student's book and send feedback to the parent after the completion of the class. Each student story/picture book should anywhere from fourteen to eighteen sentences. It's perfectly fine to go over eighteen sentences. This number amount listed is a minimum number of sentences required for the picture book. *Theme of third week will be celebrating thoughtfulness.
1 - 2 hours per week outside of class

Students can share their stories with the class at the last class for an informal assessment. I will be looking for all the main story elements, creative storylines, along with good grammar and punctuation usage.
