Writing Using Picture Books: Adjectives
What's included
1 live meeting
55 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
In this one time class we will discuss what an adjective is as well as compare and contrast examples of effective and ineffective adjectives. We will read passages from a variety of picture books together in class. We will notice the author's use of adjectives in making their writing more descriptive and poetic. The students will then create their own short writing about their favorite place using descriptive adjectives. I will write along with the students and share my writing so that students will feel comfortable sharing their writing. Students will encourage one another by sharing their work and commenting on what they like about the writing paying close attention to the adjectives used.
Learning Goals
Students will learn how to make their own writing more descriptive by using effective adjectives.

When I am not teaching, I love to read, write, research best practices of teaching, crochet, play board games with my family, and take family vacations to learn more about nature, science, and history.
