Throughout 4 weeks, students will become familiar with summarizing reference material in their own words utilizing outlines and stylistic techniques to add interest to their writing. This class is taught in English.
I am an IEW Registered Instructor and have taught several IEW-related courses over the past 10 years in person. I am excited to bring these classes to the online environment. I find that students are challenged, engaged, and learn to enjoy playing with their writing.
Please bring paper and a writing utensil to class. I will post homework after class each week in a pdf format. We are NOT using purchased curriculum from IEW, as required in some of my thematic classes. As a Registered Instructor for IEW, I have been trained in the instruction of the units presented in the Teaching with Style and Structure Manual.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
There are times for homework when students will be required to retell their outline verbally to an adult. I'd love for your support in lending them an ear for this assignment! Please contact me with any questions as we go through this process. *Note: This curriculum, along with all curriculum I teach on Outschool is secular.
