In this one-time class, students will learn writing tips to help them start their writing assignments. Students will learn concepts in prewriting to help them start the writing process. Additionally, students will be guided through how to draft individual parts of an essay.

Class Experience

Students will be taught how to analyze a prompt and how to plan in order to write an effective essay. Participants will learn the difference between persuasive, expository, argumentative and informational essay prompts. Learners will watch me model the process of analyzing a prompt in a short lecture, then will be encouraged to help me with this process through guided practice. This class includes discussion and short interactive games to help engage participants in the lesson.   Ultimately, students will be able to apply the first part of the writing process in their own writing.
