Description
Class Experience
Little learners can be ready to take the next big step with just a bit of help! In this ongoing class, Ms. Katie will help your young reader/writer to experience the satisfaction and confidence of writing complete sentences. We'll begin each class by reading the first sentence and practicing spelling each word out loud. While this is not a spelling class, this will set the ground work for future spelling lessons. We'll then move on to tracing the letters and writing the sentences. This...
Little learners will grow more comfortable and confident writing complete sentences, forming their letters, and doing copy work. They'll also begin to build habits of good spelling.
Hello! I hope to have you join me in my classroom! I have a degree in education and have taught first and second grade and high school English in a private school. For the last 8 years, I have homeschooled my own children, which included teaching each of them to read. From the very beginning, we found that a strong phonics foundation was the key to reading success. This is the method that will be used in my classroom. Hope to see you soon so we can practice our reading skills together!
There is no formal homework for this class. However, parents are welcome to print out as many copies of the handout as they like to continue the review beyond our limited class time.
Two hand-outs will be provided for each class so that you can choose which one is best for your learner. One handout will have the sentences written in dotted font. This way, letter forms and spacing will continue to be re-enforced. The other handout will be only lines with no letters/words. You can choose between the two handouts based on your learner's skill and confidence in writing their letters.
25 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
