In this multi-day course, students will practice their writing skills. This is an beginners class and we will go over subject, predicate, parts of speech, different types of sentences, and near the end we will write two-part sentences (independent and dependent clauses). Below is a general outline of what will be covered. Class can be adjusted to meet the student's needs if necessary. Lesson 1: We will begin with the basics of capitalization and go over eight different instances...
Students will learn different combinations of simple sentences, phrases with sentences, some conventions such as colons and semi-colons. Each class will focus on a set topic(s) and be devoted to that topic(s) so that students feel comfortable implementing it on their own.
I am a certified ELA teacher and taught in the classroom for three years. Beyond ELA specifically, I have over 10 years teaching experience in and outside of the classroom from preschool to high school age. I also have a TESOL certificate, a B.S. in Psychology and an M.A. in Intercultural Studies.
Students will complete a handout.
Students should have handouts printed off to use during class and a writing utensil. Handouts will be uploaded to the classroom page the morning of class.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Students are assessed informally through participation.
25 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
