US Grade 1 - 3
In this ongoing class, students will meet twice a week to practice writing. Students will practice writing in a different writing style. The classes do not build upon each other so learners are welcome to join anytime. Each class will follow the same structure. Students will be given the topic at the beginning of class. Students will brainstorm with a graphic organizer. Then, students will use the organizer to write a paragraph. Below is a breakdown of each class: ****** TOPIC INTRODUCTION ****** I will give the topic at the beginning of class. Each class will have a new topic. I will also introduce the type of writing students will be doing in the class. ****** BRAINSTORM ****** I will model how to brainstorm with a graphic organizer. Students will brainstorm their own ideas onto their graphic organizer. ****** WRITING ****** I will model how to use the graphic organizer to write a paragraph. Students will use their graphic organizer to write. As students are writing, I will check-in with each student. Writing is an essential skill for students to learn. Students must learn how to write in a variety of writing styles. This class gives students practice in different writing types.
