I am excited to offer this course as I have been teaching poetry in my classroom and library for over 15 years. My Master's in Reading and National Board certification has strengthened my teaching abilities and this is a topic which I love sharing with students. Often poetry is negatively viewed by students, but I work to make it fun, exciting, and interactive. My hope is students walk away with a newfound appreciation and love for poetry! Anyone can be a poet!
* paper and pencil/pen or you may use dry erase/wipe board and marker
please note: if it is easier for your child to type his/her poem, that is fine too!

I will share resources such as poetry books, websites, and other materials that students can further their investigation of poetry.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
For the haiku class, we will use the following website:
 https://www.readwritethink.org/classroom-resources/student-interactives/haiku-poem-interactive
I will share the site as part of my instructional focus and will work together with students to complete a class haiku. Students are able to freely explore the haiku link after our class.
