Writing Masterclass for Middle School Students
Class experience
This class is an entire semester of writing instruction for middle school students. We cover everything from creative to informational, persuasive to research, and all the writing styles in between. Students will learn both basic and advanced writing skills, and will be given ample opportunity to practice their writing. Each week, students will have a different writing assignment that they work on in class to help them master a different writing modality. With each assignment will come...
Students will learn to write informatively, creatively, and argumentatively. Students will learn to create a thesis, conduct research, and support their thesis in writing. Students will gain independence in their learning through a self-led final project.
I am a licensed K-12 intervention specialist with my Master's Degree in Education and Special Education. I spent three years working in the public school setting and providing interventions in writing, reading, math, and life skills. I taught 7th grade writing for two years in an inclusion setting.
Students will need something to write with - I prefer Google Drive/Google Docs for easy sharing and editing, but Microsoft Word works, as well.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:

Students are expected to complete work on time and submit it. I do accept late submissions (within reason) and always provide thorough and constructive feedback on assignments that are turned in. If a student does not hand in their assignments, I will not be able to provide feedback.
