Communication is an invaluable skill for attorneys, and aspiring attorneys! Attorneys must communicate with clients, colleagues and tribunals alike. Often, communication is in written format. In this class, I will teach learners the most common method of legal writing, the IRAC method. In law school it is most utilized in final exams but is a transferrable skill which would be helpful before law school. Learning how to write a position or advocacy piece, clearly and concisely, is useful in all contexts.
Learning Goals
Students will learn and understand the format of legal writing often utilized in law schools. IRAC - Issue, Rule, Application, Conclusion and CREAC - Conclusion, Rule, Explanation, Application, Conclusion.
