Students will use the writing process of prewriting, drafting, revising, and editing to write creative stories and poems. I will offer writing prompts, or have students create their own. Then, we will brainstorm and map the stories. As we brainstorm, I am brainstorming with the students, helping them work on their ideas and thinking about the details. Next, students will organize their writing and map out the story idea. Then, rough drafting will occur. After that, I will help students revise for word choice, voice, and sentence fluency. The last step will be to edit for punctuation, grammar, and spelling. Students will be able to write as many pieces as they would like. I also encourage students to interact with each other and help each other out! I have a Master's Degree in Writing and Language Arts and have taught many elementary and middle school grades. I also teach reading and writing at the college level. During the writing process, we utilize the teachings of the 6-traits of writing, which is a highly successful way to teach writing! Hello!!. My name is Mrs. Beth Lanthier.
I taught elementary school (grades 2-8) for twenty years. My Master's Degree is in Reading and Language Arts - and that is my passion. My favorite moments are when kids who don't like to write, begin to love it!
In the fall, I teach reading, writing, grammar, and College Success Skills to college students
Teaching is my passion, and my philosophy is that the influence of a good teacher can never be erased. I hear back from former students about how I impacted their lives and how they are passing that on to their children.
I will offer classes in reading, writing, English, journaling, and bullet journaling. If you look at my available classes, I offer a lot of book clubs also.
