Students will learn (and/or review) the steps of the writing writing process, including: prewriting activities like brainstorming and outlining, conducting research if necessary, writing a first draft, revise and editing, and finally publishing. We will also review the basics of how to use MLA style in our writing and to cite sources when applicable. Students can seek help with book reports, informative and persuasive essays, narrative writing, research reports, and more.
Students will be assigned writing tasks as they relate to any upcoming school assignments, as well to practice the skills learned in this class. Homework is designed to take approximately one hour each week.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Formative assessment will be utilized to determine student understanding and progress.
55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
