Please reach out to me and we can develop a time that works for your learner. In this 8 week course, you will learn the basics of writing a literary essay, personal narrative, informational essay and an argumentative essay.

What's included

8 live meetings
5 hrs 20 mins in-class hours
Assignments
1-2 hours per week. Students will write four papers and be offered feedback through a rubric system.

Class Experience

This class will have videos, slides, and outlines to guide students through the writing process. Students will have two week to write their essays and the teacher will provide feedback throughout the 8 week course. Concepts such as claim, evidence and writing processes will be discussed throughout our coursework. 

Teacher is flexible and will allow students to do work on other interests.  The class will focus on setting up the paper through the outline process and then students will take the outline on their own to write a quality paper.  Writing outside of class time will likely be required to complete all of the papers. Feedback will be given to students.

Lesson 1:
Informational Essay
 students will be introduced and begin to write an informational essay on the benefits and drawbacks of social media (or another topic of interest)

Informational Essay Continued
 students will continue to write an informational essay on the benefits and drawbacks of social media (or another topic of interest). Teacher feedback provided.

Lesson 3:
Literary Analysis
 students will read the short story Priscilla and the Wimps by Richard Peck (or another short story of their choosing) and begin to develop their literary analysis.

Lesson 4:
Literary Analysis Continued
 students will continue writing their literary analysis, while getting feedback from the teacher.
