Students will use the IEW note-taking method to write a paragraph about sloths. I can't make your child love writing in 50 minutes, but I can give them a boost of confidence and a burst of information.

Description
Class Experience
Students will take notes from a short informative paragraph and then rewrite it in their own words. This method works well for everyone, but it especially helps struggling or dyslexic students because it gives them structure and teaches them how to make an outline. To succeed in this class, students should already be able to copy a few words from a paragraph or from a board. They should be able to read at a third grade level and write sentences on lined paper. Students will learn to identify key words in a sentence, take notes from an informative piece, and then write a paragraph from their own notes.
No homework! Yay! At the end of class, students will have a well-written paragraph to read aloud.
