The horses trot through the water that sparkled. Wait, what tense am I using? Students often struggle with tense shifts in their writing. Join Ms. D for a one-time workshop to help gain a fuller understanding of tense. Note: This is a 'Version Two' workshop to reinforce learning from the previous class; however, students can take the version two without having taken the first workshop. The class will begin with greetings and introductions. Next, students will learn about/review past, present, and future tense. Students' understanding of the concepts will be reinforced through an identification activity and 'correct the tense shifts' activity. Finally, students will complete a writing activity to write in two different tenses. The class will end with a 'debrief' to discuss students' learning.
Learning Goals
Understand tense in a fun and social class that is horse-themed.

I am a certified and experienced English and History teacher (20 years in a classroom) and I have owned and ridden horses most of my life. Before becoming a teacher, I worked as an equestrian coach. I have taught creative writing for many years and have had some work published myself. Many of my students have had their creative pieces published and have won writing awards.
