In this writing camp, students will create a writer's notebook from handouts the teacher provides. These documents will be secured into a journal for use during this camp, and will be an amazing resource for the student as they continue to write. This class is geared to students who hesitate to write, loves to write, and in between. It is important to note that if your child is physically a very slow writer, your child will have more daily homework. Writing homework will be given, and should be completed before class the next day. This class will encourage your child to write in an organized manner. Daily mini lesson topics are as follows: Day 1: Character Development Day 2: Staging the Setting Day 3: Planning the Plot Day 4: Titles & Word Bank Day 5: Poetic Possibilities Day 6: Emotions Day 7: Describe It Day 8: Opinions & Share Writings We will be working on developing a story piece by piece through the eight weeks. It is very important that each student completes their homework and in-class assignments in a timely manner. The student will have a wonderful journal at the end of the course to use as a guide to writing. This is a great tool to use in other writing classes or on their own to continue writing!
