Hello and welcome to my Early Writing class for Learners who are reading and want to try creating, building, and writing sentences! In this writing class, learners will enjoy writing short sentences with prompts and guides throughout this class. We will start off the class with a welcome song and let each learner introduce themselves. Then, we'll jump right into our class time and introduce the learning topic of the day (writing, short letter sounds, long letter sounds, CVC words, and some sight words). Students will be given a pdf file to print off which will have some prompts, guides, and writing lines to practice writing skills. Learners will then be guided to write independent sight words in class. After they master writing sight words, we'll use those sight words and CVC words to write strong sentences. We'll focus on writing about the learners and things they know about. Each learner is unique and I know their writing pieces will be unique. Learners will be encouraged and inspired to write about things they see and what is happening in their world. Learners will have rotating topics each week for the lesson. For example, Class 1: All About Me; Class 2: Animals; Class 3: My world and math; Class 4: Sports. Having these topics in class will allow students to feel united in a group setting and we'll be able to help spell words for the class on the whiteboard. Learners will still be encouraged to write about unique ideas.
Learning Goals
Students will learn basic sentence structures, where to place the letters, finger spacing, writing sight words from memory, and building proper sentences with capitals and punctuation.

Your writing journal (helps with handwriting) and a pencil! Week 2 will require a white crayon and watercolors.

Hi! I'm Teacher Vanessa and I've worked with kids for 14+ years inside and outside the classroom with art, reading, character development, and parties!

I have been inside the classroom helping 1-2nd graders for years and it's the best age in my book! They are sweet, love to share everything about their lives, and get so excited about learning!
3.) I also teach engaging Social classes (galaxy geeks), Personality classes, and Career Exploration. I honestly love to chat and I think that students should always feel safe and heard in their classes. I love teaching about Career Exploration because honestly, our education system has failed us in this regard! Learners are often figuring these topics out in college with very expensive semesters of discovery. Let's learn what we can now, while in middle and high schools BEFORE we decide which major or job field we want to join! I really love my personality series because it's fun to be introspective and focus on self-improvement. I hope to see your older 10+ age learners there!
My Bachelor's degree is from Brigham Young University-Idaho in Psychology with a minor in Children Studies and Language. I went into Psychology because honestly, I love people. I love to listen, talk and understand others.
My teaching philosophy is always aimed at getting the kids to have a great time while learning, so they don't even realize they're learning! I like to have kids be accountable as well in the classroom. Having students work on a worksheet, and then take time to share, explain and show their work is really important to me during class. If we ever run out of time, I prefer to see students share their work privately so they can get feedback and continue learning and growing.
I have a lot of energy while teaching because honestly, online learning has to be engaging. I love to play soccer and ski with my family! I can't wait to see you in the classroom!
I have six children and I live in the great state of Idaho!
