Do you have a reluctant writer? Is getting your child to write a struggle? I have a series of classes just for you--Middle School Writing Bootcamp. Each class can be taken individually, or the student can complete as many courses in the series as they want. They are all targeted at different struggles students encounter when writing. In fact, one of the struggles of beginning writers is that they don't know where to begin, and because they don't know where to begin, they become...
At the end of this series of classes, students will be able to do the following: Participate in the writing process, from invention to final draft. Understand writing prompts and understand what the prompt asks them to do. Understand how to organize information to address the writing prompt and achieve a specific purpose in writing.
I hold a Master's Degree from Indiana State University in English with a specialization in Rhetoric and Composition. Most of my teaching career, which spans nearly 25 years, has focused on helping students who struggle with writing or do not see their strengths as a writer become competent, confident, effective writers.
Students will have homework each day--a short 200 to 500-word writing assignment. If they complete it, I will evaluate their work and provide feedback. We will do much of the prep work and organizing information together in class.
No outside materials are required. I will provide everything for the class. Students will have access to hand-outs and course materials through Google Classroom. Finally, a class recording will be available out Outschool at the end of the class.
There is no formal grade assigned in this class. Parents can request a grade, if they choose, at registration
1 hour 30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
