US Grade 2 - 3
Students will learn to create a key word outline to prepare to write a paragraph. I will teach the outline. Learners will identify details that are pertinent, descriptive, and specific using questions. (Who? What? Where? When? Why? How?) Students will collaborate together to create details to complete the outline. Then, they will brainstorm a word bank to use in a paragraph in the future. Descriptive and engaging writing requires strong verbs, vivid adjectives, and expressive adverbs. By the end of class, the learners will have created an outline and brainstormed strong vocabulary to help them create an enjoyable and descriptive paragraph. The final paragraph is not part of the class, but can be completed after class. I will also offer a follow-up class to learn to use the key word outline to create a paragraph.
Learning Goals
Students will be able to follow a simple pattern to create a writing sample that is cohesive and substantive.
