Class Experience
Students will learn how to write a memorable college admission essay that will stand out to colleges. Students will learn how to draw from their life experiences to write an essay that is moving and authentic. Students will learn how to conquer the feeling of being overwhelmed when approaching essay prompts Students will overcome writer's block and compose a masterful college admission essay
Cheryl R. Carter is a busy homeschooling mother and a college professor with a passion to help others achieve academic and life success. Her three oldest children have attended competitive universities and received very generous academic scholarships. She has also coached countless other parents in the admission process, and helped their children gain admission into premier colleges and universities, including Harvard, Sanford, Penn State, MIT, Spelman, and Cairn University. Carter's counsel is sound and unique. She also teaches English and Creative Writing courses and writes broadly on various topics. such as, spiritual growth, parenting, home schooling, and special education. She is also the founder of Collegiate Learning, a company that promotes higher level thinking for all students. She also holds a certificate in College Admissions from Columbia University and has done graduate study in special education. Her college preparation business has helped many students get into college.
Students may submit one draft of their essay to the instructor via Outschool's classroom feature .After viewing videos, an essay draft may be submitted. Word or Google doc preferred. Students may also post the essay directly in the Outschool classroom feature area.
If students want to submit essay drafts, they should have access to Word or Google docs.
Comments and suggestions will be given on the essay.
