In this course, I will teach students the basic purpose and function of a paragraph in various types of writing. Students will be presented with sample paragraphs and will learn to identify different elements of each. During the course, students will be encouraged to discuss as they analyze the sample paragraphs. Then, students will compose their own paragraph(s) about a topic of their choosing. If students are working on paragraph development for another course or writing assignment, they are welcome to use that in lieu of composing a new one during this course.
Learning Goals
Students will learn the purpose, function, and compositional elements of a standard written paragraph.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! I am an English & writing teacher who loves to read! I obtained my B.A. in English from Southeastern University and my M.A. in English from Rutgers University. I have been teaching for 3 years and am excited to teach here on Outschool! I currently live in New Jersey with my husband two golden retrievers, Maggie and Harper.
I teach classes about English topics, grammar, and literature. My favorite books include the Harry Potter Series, The Chronicles of Narnia, and The Time Quintet. My students improve most drastically when given individualized instruction that fits their needs. My goal as a teacher is to meet students where they are intellectually in order to teach them effectively.
