Having a hard time staying accountable? Need advice on a troublesome scene? Characters not doing what you want them to? Join a group of other teen novelists and get help and encouragement to keep you motivated to get the words on the page. Note: This class is for teens only. What we will do in this class... This group is for writers looking to stay connected between formal writing classes, to get help for trouble spots in their stories, and to stay motivated to write. During this class, we will have the opportunity to: + Write together for a 20-minute writing sprint. + Discuss our story to get advice from other writers, exchange drafting and revision tips, and chat as a whole class or with partners in breakout rooms. (See weekly topics/activities below) + Share our week in writing and help each other to stick with the writing process. The flexible format of this class is intended to facilitate a teen novel writing community tailored to the writers attending. As such, each week may look a little different to meet the needs of the students. Writers are welcome to submit craft-related issues they are struggling with as future discussion topics. Upcoming Topics & Activities Check Back for Fall 2024 Topics Who this class is for... Teen writers who want to connect with a fun writing community, troubleshoot their stories, and stay motivated to write by being around other writers. Note: This is a social class, not a formal critique class. Writers interested in getting and giving detailed written feedback should consider my critique class instead. Questions on this class? I love connecting people to others who share their passion. As a writer, I understand the value of having a community to be a part of, especially with how isolating writing can seem. I've worked as a programs director for local literary nonprofit and love facilitating arts communities for youth.
