Drop into our Writer's showcase and display your creativity! In this class we meet once a week to share stories, poems, comic books or essays that you have written. After introductions, you will have the chance to read a writing sample (or have it read aloud) to the group. The teacher and your classmates, then will offer compliments, ask questions and offer positive feed back to encourage future writing. Supplies: writer’s notebook, loose paper or a whiteboard, ideas and enthusiasm!
Students will develop confidence in their writing by sharing and receiving positive feedback for their efforts. Students will increase public speaking skills. Students will learn how to present positive and constructive feedback. Students will build motivation to continue creative writing.
As a former 1st and 2nd grade teacher I know the importance of a positive platform for showcasing students work. The showcase encourages and motivates students to write and demonstrate creativity.
Students are expected to come to the Showcase with a piece of writing to share. Students/ parents are expected to uploaded and email images of writing and any drawings that go with the writing.
Supplies: writer’s notebook, loose paper or a whiteboard, ideas and enthusiasm!
This is an encouraging and positive environment for students to build confidence and have a platform to share their writing. Progress is assessed by the student's ability to participate in sharing work and providing feedback to others.
55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
Note to parents: Some students are eager to share their writing and others are often shy to read aloud. I can accommodate either with a little help from parents. All students should practice reading their work aloud before class. Limit the read aloud to 5 minutes maximum. Please take photos of each page of writing to be shared, artwork included and email photos to me at least 1 hr before class.
