Class Experience
Gain insight from a former Awards judge (and teacher/mentor to past winners) about how to: - navigate the process of submitting to the annual Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. - polish works in progress according to judging guidelines - ask for feedback and critiques that help push you forward in your work - determine the best category for submission
I have 8 years of experience guiding gifted teens through the process of submitting to the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. Numerous former students have received recognition at the regional and even national level; one former mentee even had the honor of having his work displayed in Washington, DC after the national awards ceremony at Carnegie Hall. In addition, I served as a contest judge for the Scholastic Writing Awards from 2012-2014, so I am very familiar with the judging criteria. I am currently certified to teach English Language Arts and Reading for grades 7-12.

55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
