For this one-time class, students will learn to write a paragraph. This will include deciding on a prompt with a main idea, a focus on punctuation, sentence organization, and conclusion.

Beginner Level

In this class, skills to writing a successful paragraph will be taught. Students will learn the importance of a topic sentence, main idea, and supporting details. Students will have the opportunity to choose from 3 selected prompts to practice writing their paragraph and get live feedback during the class. A slideshow created by me will be used and shared during the class along with a sample paragraph to best support your student. Learners will get to interact with their teacher using slides, and discussion. This is a wonderful introductory class to begin with if you are interested in other classes I have listed. It is a great opportunity to see my teaching style, to decide whether I am a good fit for your student!

Parental Guidance

Padlet allows for student-teacher engagement in a discussion board like setting. Students can post their responses, in the forum that only our class has access to. Google Slides is used for sharing class content and presentations.

Google Slides will be used during this class; however, students will not need to use the program as slide decks will be screen shared. Padlet will be used as a discussion tool, and for students to write their own paragraph. Students do not need an account for this.

Teacher expertise and credentials

I have several years of experience working in the classroom and online as an educator. I have a Bachelors degree in English as well as an Early Childhood Education Associates degree.  I have specialized in working with Elementary aged children as a reading tutor focusing on phonics, comprehension, fluency, and letter/sound recognition. My experience has also stemmed towards working with high school aged students with developmental disabilities ranging from ADHD, Autism, and Cerebral Palsy. I have spent a great deal of time working as a Pre-K and Kindergarten teacher teaching subjects such as ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies concepts.
