The class will commence with a discussion about the components of basic paragraph structure and elements. We will then focus on and examine how a Descriptive Paragraph is composed by viewing the instructor's exemplar. Next, we will discuss strategies that can be used to write a successful Descriptive Essay. The strategies that we will discuss and use will be descriptive words, sensory imagery, and supporting details. Students will have an opportunity to share their final products with their classmates by reading them aloud or by submitting a TYPE-WRITTEN draft to me for critique. PLEASE NOTE: Students should be familiar with the following related terminology prior to signing up: adjectives, sensory imagery, similes & metaphors, topic sentence, supporting details, and a closing sentence.
