Join our comprehensive writing course where students will master every aspect of the writing process, from brainstorming to editing. Develop skills in sentence structure, paragraph organization, descriptive language, and word selection. Classes include a blend of instruction, interactive learning activities, writing exercises, group sessions, and peer review workshops. Homework assignments focus on refining writing skills through practice and editing. **Weeks 1-4: Narrative Writing** Explore the art of narrative writing through analyzing examples and crafting your own Character Sketch, Autobiographical Incident, and Short Story. **Weeks 5-8: Expository Writing** Dive into expository writing as you study models and produce your Introduce Yourself!, Process Essay, and Compare and Contrast Essay. **Weeks 9-12: Persuasive Writing** Master persuasive writing techniques while analyzing persuasive examples and composing your Letter for Social Change, Personal Essay, and Analysis of a Short Story. By the end of the course, students will have assembled a diverse writing portfolio comprising nine distinct pieces. Not only will they gain a strong foundation for future academic pursuits, but they'll also develop essential communication skills for lifelong success.

I'm excited to teach English, Language Arts, and Social Studies through Outschool. I've been teaching in one form or another for over twenty years. I have taught all ages from early childhood to adult in public, private, and higher education school settings. I have a Master's degree in English and another in Montessori education. I have certifications in Montessori education (6-9 and 12-18) and Teaching English as a Second Language.
I believe in getting to know the student as a whole person, and meeting them where they are for the greatest learning success. I strive for an engaging and inspiring learning experience.
