Class Experience

US Grade 4 - 7
Intermediate Level
Each week, learners will enjoy a new flight of the imagination in this creative writing club!

Learners will develop their writing styles and expand their horizons with a variety of writing prompts and challenges. Club meetings will rotate between writing short stories, poetry, short skits/plays, & more!

At the beginning of class, I'll provide modeling with discussion and slides, helping learners to understand the selected format and goals. Learners will write independently for approximately 25 - 30 minutes, depending on the activity. (Depending on the week's topic, we might also do some writing together as a group.) Learners will have the opportunity to share their work with the group. I'll encourage learners to respond to other students' work using specific sentence stems, in order to promote a positive learning environment.

Following class, some learners might like to expand upon our writing activities: revising, editing, or simply adding more to their work. Learners will always be welcome to post their expanded work in the Outschool "classroom" view, and I'll provide feedback.

I'm a certified teacher who believes that each mind is one-of-a-kind. Every brain has particular talents and ways of learning!

I'm extremely patient and empathetic. I take the time to imagine my classes from each learner's perspective, guiding them with encouragement.

I started my teaching journey in 2007 as a NYC Teaching Fellow in the Bronx. Two years later, I earned my Master of Science Degree in Teaching Students with Disabilities from the City University of New York. I've taught students on all grade levels in brick-and-mortar schools in New York, Pennsylvania, and Louisiana. I've been teaching online since 2019 through Outschool and other platforms with worldwide reach. I'm currently homeschooling my son, and he enjoys taking Outschool classes, too!
