Write like Shakespeare! Fun, creative class with an Oxford grad writer!

Shakespeare is one of the greatest writers in history. What do his stories teach us, and how can we use his ideas in our writing? In this one-time fun and interactive class, students will have the opportunity to practise their creative writing skills with lots of Shakespeare-inspired activities!

This is a lively class which will help students to learn a little about Shakespeare, and to have fun with their creative writing. There are no right answers with creative writing : ) 

The class will run as follows:

1) Introductions and expectations. Students will share their prior knowledge of Shakespeare.

2) Shakespeare: key plots of key plays!

3) Get planning! The 5 key components of Shakespeare plays:
a) Historical element - what's your favourite time in history?
b) "There's magic in the web" - so weave some magic!
c) Language - make up some words
d) What was Othello's problem? Or Queen Titania's? Now what could be yours?
e) Add a disguise!

4) Put it all together - and get writing!

I have a Masters from the University of Oxford, a professional teaching qualification, and many years’ experience teaching English, History and Creative Writing. 

I am currently being sponsored to write a historical fiction novel so I cannot wait to share my knowledge with your learners- and I can't wait to hear their ideas!

No prior knowledge is required, but it would be lovely if learners can come to the class thinking about their favourite stories.
