In this ongoing class, we will focus on a different writing technique each week and then will share our writing out loud with fellow classmates.
Class experience
In this ongoing class, students will have the opportunity to practice writing. Writing is a skill all people need, but unfortunately, it is one few students like to practice. It is therefore my goal, to make writing practice a more enjoyable and creative exercise that students will enjoy. Each week, we will focus in on a different technique to improve writing skills. The technique will be introduced by the teacher and modeled by the teacher in a hands-on and creative way, and then...
The writing techniques to be taught in the class are as follows: * Writing with all five senses * Using descriptive adjectives to paint a picture * Making verb choices that enhance your writing * Learning to show and not tell emotions * Generating ideas from looking at a picture * Practice adding dialogue to our writing * Writing to show an emotion * Recording our observations * Creative writing based on a sound * Writing in sequence * Incorporating transition words I am sure as the class progresses and I have opportunities to observe the writing of my students, other techniques will be covered as I give them feedback.
All students will need a pen or a pencil. If a student participates for several classes, they may find it helpful to have a notebook or journal they could use each week. If not, a single sheet of paper will work.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
