Write and Tell: Creative Techniques to Improve Your Writing and Speaking
Class experience
In this ongoing class, students will have the opportunity to practice writing. Writing is a skill all people need, but unfortunately, it is one few students like to practice. The technique will be introduced by the teacher and modeled by the teacher in a hands-on and creative way, and then...
The writing techniques to be taught in the class are as follows: * Writing with all five senses * Using descriptive adjectives to paint a picture * Making verb choices that enhance your writing * Learning to show and not tell emotions * Generating ideas from looking at a picture * Practice adding dialogue to our writing * Writing to show an emotion * Recording our observations * Creative writing based on a sound * Writing in sequence * Incorporating transition words I am sure as the class progresses and I have opportunities to observe the writing of my students, other techniques will be covered as I give them feedback.
All students will need a pen or a pencil. If a student participates for several classes, they may find it helpful to have a notebook or journal they could use each week. If not, a single sheet of paper will work.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
