Class Experience

What makes a story worth reading? Strong stories incorporate amazing figurative language devices! Using these clever tools helps writers ā€œshow, not tellā€ the reader what’s happening. Let’s review some of these important figurative language devices and start brainstorming our own stories!

We will briefly cover:
onomatopoeia
simile
hyperbole
personification

After reviewing and looking at examples, we'll begin brainstorming our own stories. A printable graphic organizer will be available in the classroom to download and use during and after class. Students will leave this class with some creative ideas for how to write their own short story!
