Write a Main Character Your Readers Will Root For

Have you ever finished reading a book and found yourself missing the main character? That's the kind of writing tips I want to share with you in this class. Together, we will discuss what makes a captivating main character that readers will either immediately love or grow to admire. We will learn various techniques to help make your main character appealing, no matter the genre you prefer to write in. We will also briefly discuss cliches to avoid as to not attempt to awkwardly force the character on your readers. Towards the end of the class, we will outline a main character for a story and hear from volunteers as they share what they will use to draw us into the lives of their character.

You do not need to have a current main character you are working on, nor do you need to complete the story you begin to outline in this course. Please bring a writing utensil and something to write on to jot down your ideas for your main character.
