US Grade 5 - 7
Have you ever finished reading a book and found yourself missing the main character? That's the kind of writing tips I want to share with you in this class. Together, we will discuss what makes a captivating main character that readers will either immediately love or grow to admire. We will learn various techniques to help make your main character appealing, no matter the genre you prefer to write in. We will also briefly discuss cliches to avoid as to not attempt to awkwardly force the character on your readers. Towards the end of the class, we will outline a main character for a story and hear from volunteers as they share what they will use to draw us into the lives of their character. You do not need to have a current main character you are working on, nor do you need to complete the story you begin to outline in this course. Please bring a writing utensil and something to write on to jot down your ideas for your main character.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello, Parents and Learners! My name is Camille, and I am so excited to share my enthusiasm for reading and writing with you. My university degree is in Secondary Education. I taught Middle School Language Arts for almost four years before choosing to stay home with my daughter and sheepadoodle puppy. I love helping students find ways to unlock their writing and reading skills that they can be proud of.
I have experience teaching academic writing and basic reading comprehension techniques for young teens. I found that the best times I had teaching was when I was collaborating with students on their creative writing pieces.
I believe that everyone has a story to tell, and I hope I can help my learners find the methods that work for them to tell their stories one day.
